Evelyn Cleotrus Jackson (Mackey) Mrs. Obituary (1923 - 2023)

Evelyn was born April 8, 1923, in Taft, Oklahoma. She was the second child of twelve siblings to be born to the proud parents, Robert and Henrietta Mackey, Sr. Evelyn was affectionately referred to as Tutter, Evel, Mother, Gammy, and Aunt Evelyn. She grew up in Taft, where she attended Sugar Creek Elementary School, before her parents moved to Beland, Oklahoma. There she united with Saint James Baptist Church and was baptized. She continued her education at McSwain Elementary and Moton High School. She married Bural Clifford Jackson and relocated to Topeka, KS. She united with New Mount Zion and became active in the Jubilee Choir, General Mission, Sunday school, Usher board, Pastor's Aide, and the nurse ministry. She loved the Lord and always encouraged family and friends to read Psalm 91. When confined at home she hosted a small Bible class. Evelyn attended Clarks Business School before enrolling in a practical nursing school. She truly enjoyed helping and caring for others. Places of employment were Saint Frances Hospital and Forbes Air Force Base Hospital. After retiring she was a substitute for Topeka 501 school lunch program. On Saturday, March 18, 2023, at home with her daughter, Evelyn was called to her heavenly home after a lengthy illness. Family members who preceded her in death were her parents, husband, one granddaughter, four sisters and four brothers. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Betty McFrazier of the home in Topeka, two grandsons--Robert E. McFrazier (Toni) Snohomish, WA, Marc S. McFrazier, Lawrence, KS, one great-grand son Robert T. McFrazier, Snohomish, WA, one brother--James Mackey, Tulsa, OK; two sisters--Eunice Nunley and Joyce Wardlow both of Muskogee, OK, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
