Charles Allen "Pedie" Tumbleson Obituary (1964 - 2023)

Charles Allen "Pedie" Tumbleson Jr. passed away on July 5, 2023, at the age of 58 in Topeka, Kansas at Stormont Vail Hospital. Born, November 29, 1964 in Topeka, Kansas to Charles "Pete" Tumbleson Sr. and Drina Tumbleson. He graduated from Highland Park High School, class of 1982. Charles moved to Georgia in the early 90s to chase big city dreams and would later go on to have a son, Christopher Allen Tumbleson. Charles had a varied career within the medical field throughout the years, holding various positions, and made a significant impact on the lives of those he served. After over 20 years, he moved back to Topeka in 2013 to be closer to family, where he remained until the day of his call home. "Pedie", as he was affectionately known, was a vibrant and colorful individual. Always present in his personality, and his wardrobe! He possessed a larger-than-life personality, and was always the life of the party. Pedie had a "unique" ability to find value in almost everything he encountered. No matter the condition, value, or age every item was useful, even if HIS use didn't match its intended use. His frequent visits to garage sales would always leave sellers appreciative of his presence. While Pedie was known for his fun-loving, outgoing nature, and his inability to "filter" most things that came out of his mouth! Those close to him knew that he had many other qualities. He was incredibly protective of his loved ones, served as a confidant, and provided shelter to many with his goodwill nature, even leading to his final hour. He'd be upset if we didn't mention, his love for animals (we mean ALL OF THEM), and we often teased, upon deaf ears, that he had small petting zoo at times! Pedie worshiped at Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church in Topeka, KS He cherished most, the time he got with his family and friends, and certainly made the most of every moment. Pedie was preceded in death by both parents Charles & Drina Tumbleson, and leaves behind a loving family, including his son Christopher Tumbleson (grandson Dae' Jaqun Tumbleson) of Topeka. Sister, Yolonda Alexander of Topeka. Brother, LaVae Tumbleson of Dallas. Brother-in-law, Olian Alexander of Wichita. His three nieces Ahjah, "Nona", & Carsyn. As well as three nephews Dominique, Olian, & Cade. He is also survived by a host of additional family and dear friends who will miss him dearly. A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 10:00 am, followed by services at 11:00 am at Peaceful Rest Funeral Chapel located at 401 SW Harrison Ave, Topeka, KS 66603. Pedie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His colorful personality and zest for life will forever be remembered.
